1600 C*****Es – He Got It Out In Front Of Me!

Hope you are having a good day.

Over the last week or so I have been working with a gentleman who has become very frustrated with his efforts.

Ha…until this last week……..

He has, to be fair already lost 4 stone, but over the last few years he has struggled to keep it going and needs to lose 3 more really.

He has actually been really proactive and been cycling and actually chasing up the darling NHS to get back to him with the “advice” they promised him.

He even went to ask to speak to a dietician at a hospital and they asked him if he was there to get a gastric band!!

I couldn’t believe what he was saying….well I did…but I didn’t want too!

They should be banned…that’s another topic!!!

—– I Felt For This Guy——-

He asked for my help.

Which I think is brave enough………in fact I take my hat off to anyone who admits they need help …..it isn’t anything to be ashamed of but we do tend to feel “bad” when we do it…..we shouldn’t ……..but we do.

I invited him to come to see me for a consultation.

So we met, his wife came too.

——- He Got It Out———

the consultation began, and as we moved through the process I have in place, I began to really feel this guys DESIRE and DESPERATION TO CHANGE.

He had been doing what he had been told (WRONGLY) , he was sticking to it and not losing any weight.

Annoying and frustrating!
Now I know its not all about weight, but its making this guy unhappy.

He then pulled out his “diet sheet” which nearly made me puke!!

The title told me everything….1600 Calories.

OH JESUS……..

At that point my heart sank.

He was so DISILLUSIONED, he sat there and basically told me he didn’t know what to do next.

A dietician gave him this sheet, I kid you not my dog could have written something better.

It probably would have had more nutritional value in it just by him breathing on it!

I told him to screw it up….it wasn’t worth the paper it was written on.

—- 3 Biggest Mistakes On There——

1. cereal

2. processed/wheat products

3. too much sugar, not enough fat

we all know that cereals are ridiculous, full of sugars and nasty iron filaments (well the ones fortified with iron anyway).
We know that eating bread and other wheat products, hinders digestion, makes us lethargic and supresses our happy hormones.
Too be fair, the worst bit was there were NO good fats in the plan. This was basically nullifying this persons fat burning potential and switching off his metabolism and too be honest lining him up for pre diabetes or other Cardiovascular diseases.

That’s the reality of it…… its sad but I cannot believe this kind of rubbish is being handed out.

His wife emailed me on Friday as I was on the way back from the first module of my masters in Exercise and Nutrition Science to say he was SO HAPPY with the first week.

Felt great, had more energy and had LOST 8 LBs!!!

That’s more than he had done for a VERY LONG time!

—– What Did I Do—–

1. kept it simple for him…no calorie counting

2. did NOT restrict him in terms of volume

3. Gave him some VIDEOs to follow for some light exercise (just 10 minute bursts)

There’s a bit more than that but I wont bore you with that

Whilst you may or may not be that interested in ’losing weight’ I can GUARANTEE that you will know and have probably had conversations (I do most days via email) with others about them feeling frustrated with being led up the wrong path.
So all I ask is that you share this with your friends, however you can, just to show people that they NEED to stop counting calories and concentrate on the quality of their exercise and nutrition and they too can be HAPPY.
