RESULT ALERT – Improving your run time……

Wait….I know not everyone wants to run….but there is a lesson for us all here >>
This morning one of my clients came into our private studio in Lifton…
His goal is to join the paratroopers, the problem being he followed a “magazine” programme which without doubt crippled his running earlier this year.
When he approached me at the end of August, he had shin splints, his shoulders were rounded, his hips were tight and this meant he couldn’t run.
When I told him that in the first month he would only be running once per week I think he thought I was mental.
His run time (shown below) was 20 mins + for 1.5 miles….way off what it needs to be (9.5 mins).
We worked on his posture, we did mobility exercises to undo all of the harm he had done over the previous few months when he was going it alone and we started to dial in his nutrition which was frankly awful. Processed food, too low in calories and low in nutrients.
Now…..just over 2 months on….
We have knocked nearly 10 minutes off his 1.5 mile time and I predict he will be ready to go for selection by the end of November.
Not just ready and scrapping by but ready to attack it full of confidence.
Remember if your goal is performance based
Train for ‘go’ not for ‘show’…..those who ‘go’ well normally ‘show’ well.
