Jonny Wilkinson & Your Control Box……..

 

 

Loved it…….

 

I was watching a replay of the great Jonny Wilkinson giving an interview on a TV programme last week.

 

 

In case you aren’t aware, Jonny pretty much single handily won the rugby world cup for England in 2003….. well almost!

 

 

So he is well qualified to talk about dealing with pressure, focusing on the job in hand and executing it.

 

 

The video clip is in the p.s. at the bottom. Just watch from minute 1:15-2 mins.

 

 

Ladies if you want to watch more of it, that’s cool!

 

 

Anyway, he mentioned the “control box”……dealing with what he can control and only that.

 

 

Which got me thinking…..

 

That is where too many people struggle when it comes to fitness and health improvements.

 

 

We almost become too worried about the amount of weight we lose, the dress size we achieve, the speed we run our race at or our finishing time.

 

 

All of which are the OUTCOMES…………which without the processes will not happen.

 

 

So I think more people will stand more of a chance at getting success like this lady (whom I received an email from yesterday) who has lost 20Kg so far, if we work on the daily processes.

 

 

As she said, “ it wasn’t easy, but I did it, so I am proud of myself”.

Things To Put In Your Control Box of Get To’s

START by appreciating that you have the opportunity to make the decisions below. We can easily change the mindset from “should do” to “I get to” . Should do is flakey and normally wont happen,you know I should work on my fitness, I should start eating proper meals, whereas “get to’s” are almost a show of gratitude and appreciate for the fact that WE have the ability to do said action.

You GET TO BE IN control….even when you think you aren’t, you are! You are in control of what goes in your mouth 95% of the time as an independent adult. What work serve up, what your partner eats is irrelevant….sure it might make it more difficult but NOT impossible.

You GET TO DO 3-5 x 30-60 minutes of exercise / physical activity in each week.

 

******

You GET TO socialise with positive people and put yourself in environments that challenge you.

 

That’s it for today, I was going to share that video I made on energy, but I will probably do that later in the week now.
