Michaela has actively trained for in excess of 22 years, not only has she experienced competition at the highest levels, she has also overcome many obstacles en-route including a stress fracture in her back which hampered her performance in Beijing. Each time she was knocked down, she came back stronger demonstrating true fighting spirit and determination. Achieving a 22-year career is testiment to her technical efficiency and attention to safety when lifting. When asked what she felt her biggest achievements were over such a long career, 2 Olympic Games and Commonwealth Champion were right up there. Probably here greatest achievement included her comeback for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014 where at the age of 35, broke the
British record twice and set a new Commonwealth Games record, proving age is no barrier.
