Hi
I hope you are good. Just wanted to catch up with you via an email to recap on what’s gone on this last week.
If you cast back 6 months or so, when Matt broke the 9 hour sheep shearing world record, I said to him that we should do a seminar series around the UK to share what we did to help Matt in the build up and on the day.
So in partnership with the British Wool Marketing Board that is exactly what happened on Tuesday 14th March in Lanark, near Edinburgh.
After a 3:30am start we eventually landed in Edinburgh around 8am and the day started with Matt giving an insight into what happened on that day and the build up to it. Then it was over to yours truly to discuss the theory behind the training, how to get started, a live practical and introduction to foam rolling and back pain release techniques.
After lunch we discussed nutrition primarily for health, then in terms of competitions and performance. We did finish the day with an open floor Q&A session and a little bit more on the practical element too.
All in all everyone left with something to think about and to take action on.
I think Matt and I managed to get home the same day by 11pm.
Next week we are heading for a short trip up the A30 to Exeter for the second seminar.

So this week it was brought to my attention that a lady on our Blast Fitness Camps programme has been consistently chipping away at her fitness and health goals.
Take a look at these progress pics so far……

I also want to acknowledge the achievements of Rowland Smith, who won the New Zealand Sports Person of the year last week. After meeting ‘Rowly’ around July 2016 we started helping him with his fitness goals. Mike (who works with me) actually just spent 2 weeks working 1-1 with him to help him with his preparations for the Golden Shears in which he won every event he entered.
Nicky PB at Tavy Wheelers Time Trial (TT)- Big shout out to one of my longest standing clients who today knocked 3 mins 21s off her 25 mile TT. I have coached Nicky on her strength work over the last 7 years but since November more specifically on her swim, bike and run training. I am looking forward to seeing how she gets on this summer at the European Olympic distance triathlon champs.
Thats it for today.
Have a great week coming up,
Matt 🙂
